The Chicago South Side Film Festival is a not-for-profit arts organization created to celebrate the South Side on Film! The two-fold mission of the Chicago South Side Film Festival (“CSSFF”) is to provide South Side filmmakers with opportunities to screen their work in their own communities, and to use film as a tool for collective intellectual and community engagement.
In just three years, we have been able to create a dramatic and positive presence in Chicago’s arts community. The CSSFF is a vehicle to maximize the efforts of South Side filmmakers by providing them with opportunities to screen their work in their own community, and also to be exposed to audiences beyond Chicago.
Our vision for the Chicago South Side Film Festival is that it will become a sustainable, influential, collaborative, and continuously innovative cornerstone of Chicago’s arts culture.
Numerous notable and critically acclaimed films have been made on the South Side of Chicago. The CSSFF endeavors to reclaim those films that have been lost to time, and to introduce them to new audiences. The CSSFF also endeavors to create a nurturing environment for new films to be introduced to the public. In addition to its signature annual film festival, the CSSFF plans to produce free-standing, year-round events with innovative programming.
